作为改革开放论坛的一个研究部门，经济与社会研究中心致力于研究中国及世界广泛的经济和社会发展问题，研究领域涉及能源、环保、金融、贸易、教育、医疗卫生、人口及老龄化、社会保障等与经济和社会发展密切相关的方面。
CSES, as a research division of CRF (China Reform Forum), commits itself to extensive study of the economy and social development of China and the world. Its research covers the fields of energy, environmental protection, finance, trade, education, health, population and aging society, social security and welfare, and other issues closely associated with economic and social development.

中心将定期根据社会热点，设定课题，围绕经济及社会领域组织专家展开研究，提交及时和客观的研究报告，提出详尽的解决方案，出版相关研究成果。中心还积极开展国际交流，包括接待外国来访学者，组织国内专家赴国外与会，参加世界热点问题研讨。
CSES periodically conducts research on projects about social hot issues by experts from social and economic fields to submit timely and objective research reports, propose detailed solutions, and publish research products. CSES also actively engages itself in holding international exchanges, hosting overseas visiting scholars, and organizing Chinese experts to attend international conferences and participate in discussion of world hot issues.
